Vocal Masterclass with Marian Stieber

CMS welcomes Marian Stieber for a vocal master class on Thursday, June 22 at 7pm. A select group of CMS voice students will perform for the masterclass. All students and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Marian Stieber Biography:
Marian Stieber is Professor of Voice, Coordinator of the Vocal Division and Director of the Opera Company at Rowan University. As a lyric soprano she has achieved critical acclaim professionally as an opera singer, performing roles such as Mimi in La Boheme, Violetta in La Traviata, Marguerite in Faust, The Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro and the title role in The Merry Widow. She has also performed as solo concert artist with the Philadelphia Singers, The Basically Bach Festival, Germantown Oratorio Society, The Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, and The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra.
In addition, Ms. Stieber is highly regarded for her artistry and interpretive style and has presented recitals in Germany, Hungary, and Austria as well as the eastern United States. Ms Stieber has been featured in numerous radio broadcasts on WHYY public radio as well as in the national PBS telecast of A Celebration of Handel and Bach. She was a finalist in many vocal competitions most notably, the Eleanor Steber Foundation Award and the Luciano Pavarotti International Vocal Competition.
Ms Stieber was former Governor of the New Jersey National Association of Teachers of Singing and has adjudicated many competitions. Her students have won awards at the state and national level, have been accepted at prestigious masters programs and are currently performing in the classical and musical theater fields.
As a director of the Rowan Opera Company, Ms Stieber directs a full opera production each year. She has produced and directed The Merry Widow, Yeomen of the Guard, The Magic Flute, Carmen, Albert Herring, La Clemenza di Tito, Dido and Aeneas, Suor Angelica, Le Nozze di Figaro, The Pirates of Penzance, Orpheus in the Underworld, Die Fledermaus, The Happy Prince, Countess Maritza, Cosi fan tutte, and Amahl and the Night Visitors. Professionally, she has also served as vocal director for many musical theater productions including Jekyll and Hyde, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Kiss Me Kate, Dames at Sea, Hair and Candide as well as Rowan’s productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Guys and Dolls and Nine.
