Community Music School welcomes resumes and letters of interest from qualified teachers seeking employment for teaching hours during afternoon, evening and Saturdays. CMS employs fully credentialed and experienced teachers. Successful candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in applied music, pedagogy or music education from an accredited institution with a major in the instrument they seek to teach. CMS generally gives preference to candidates with advanced degrees and specific studio teaching experience. CMS requires faculty and staff to obtain background checks and clearances.

Lead Teacher for Creative Kids Program - Click Here for information

About the Program – Creative Kids is an arts-based early childhood program that runs for the full school year September through May. Your budding little artist will experience music, movement / dance and visual art activities led by professional Teaching Artists each week. Arts-based learning helps inspire active participation, imagination and creativity while developing comprehension, memory and a lifelong love and appreciation of the arts. In order to enroll in Creative Kids, children must be 3 years old and potty-trained.  9-month program (Monday / Wednesday / Friday) beginning Monday, September 9th through Friday, May 22nd from 9AM-12PM.

  • 2+ years’ experience working with children in a classroom setting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred (work experience equivalent will be considered).
    Pediatric CPR / First Aid Certified or willing to obtain.
  • Passionate about inspiring youth by providing well-rounded, quality instruction to students by following our core values.
    Maintain open and frequent communication with parents and students in order to support their educational progress, maintain enrollment and ensure each student has an exceptional experience at CMS.
  • Ability to Encourage consistency in participation and attendance.
  • Ability to tailor your teaching to the individual needs, abilities and goals of each student while teaching fundamental school readiness skills.
  • Inspires students through your passion, talents and love for teaching, which in turn will foster their artistic and personal growth.
    Engage yourself and your students with the CMS community and actively support the school’s mission.
  • Have knowledge of CMS’s educational & performance programs and recommend programs that will stimulate and expand your student’s artistic education.

Piano – Looking for experienced pianist and teaching artist, comfortable teaching beginners through advanced students, ages 5 through adults. Experience with accompanying instrumental and vocal students a plus. Must be available to teach lessons on one to two weekdays 3-9pm and/or Saturdays 9am-3pm.
