The career of pianist CALEB FLICK encompasses performances in the United States, Canada, France, and Lithuania. Equally at home as a soloist, chamber musician, or collaborating with singers affiliated with major opera companies, Flick consistently garners praise from the press and public alike. Recently the Reading Eagle’s Susan Pena described a presentation of solo piano excerpts from Frederick Rzewski’s “The People United Shall Never Be Defeated” and “North American Ballads” as being a “bravura performance” which captured diverse moods ranging from “thunderous to sprightly, delicate, bluesy and meditative.”
This season he makes his debut as soloist in Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor with the Berks Sinfonettia under the direction of David McConnell. Flick has also been chosen among eleven pianists to be granted a full scholarship to attend the International Piano Academy Feuerwerk Einbeck and to give solo performances in Germany under the mentorship of Lithuanian pianist Gintaras Januševičius. In addition to presenting solo recitals and masterclasses in the United States, he will make a number of appearances with American soprano Toni Marie Palmertree presenting a critically acclaimed recital of cabaret music.
Flick holds a Bachelors of Music degree from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania where his piano professors included Bach-Prize winner Eric Fung. He has studied chamber music under the supervision of Philippe Entremont at the Conservatoire americain in Fontainebleau, France, and piano accompaniment with David Lutz of the University of Vienna, Other formative experiences include studies with Malcolm Bilson, Angela Chan, Phil Cohen, Robert Durso, Ilya Itin, Gintaras Januševičius, Naomi Niskala, and Anna Szpilberg.
Flick currently serves as Director of Musical Ministries at Faith Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He has served on the faculty of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and as Principal Keyboardist of the Reading Symphony and Pops Orchestras.
