SUMMARY:Daniel Chu Senior Recital
DESCRIPTION:Join pianist Daniel Chu for a magical evening of Romantic masterworks in his senior recital! The program opens with Chopin’s dramatic Polonaise in F-sharp minor\, followed by all four of his virtuosic Scherzos\, showcasing a range of fiery brilliance\, lyrical beauty\, and emotional depth. The recital concludes with Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6\, bringing the evening to a dazzling close. \n  \nDaniel Chu\, 18\, is a senior at Spring-Ford Area High School. He has been studying piano at CMS for ten years and is currently a student of Milena Urban. He was a member of the Eridanus Trio\, which was coached by Hsiao Ming Chen. They performed at a Pennsylvania Philharmonic concert in 2019 and earned first place at the Tri-County Youth Festival in 2023. Since 2024\, Daniel has been a pianist with the Triad FAC Trio under the direction of Eric Coyne and Hsiao Ming Chen and had the opportunity to perform with members of the Philadelphia Sinfonia Youth Orchestra. \nAdditionally\, Daniel has been a member of the CMS Junior Board and has volunteered to perform the piano around the local community. In addition to piano\, Daniel has played violin in his school orchestra since fourth grade. He also enjoys composing music and participated in the PMEA Composition Programs in 2023 and 2025\, receiving outstanding awards for his submissions in both years. In the fall of 2025\, Daniel will attend the University of Maryland\, College Park\, where he plans to study Computer Science. \n \n

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree\, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach\, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean\, facing hunger\, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way. \nDirector: Domenick Scudera\, Director\, is Professor of Theater at Ursinus College where he has been teaching acting\, directing\, and theater history since 1997.  He has directed close to 50 plays and musicals at the college. DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Thursday\, September 18th at 11am before our Bach’s Lunch concert for a special opening reception for our new exhibit. Sally Bishop will be here to greet guests. Light refreshments will be served. Stay for the free Bach’s Lunch Concert at 12pm! Her install we be available all of September and October during normal business hours. \nSally Bishop is a local artist residing in Plymouth Meeting. She studied graphic design and art education at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Sally has been a freelance graphic designer\, taught art classes\, and currently is painting and taking photographs. \nArtist Statement: \nWhen I go on a photography walk\, I look for something that catches my eye. It could be about color\, something unusual in the shapes of details or a feeling or mood from the scene. Whichever it is\, it has caused me to take a second look. In the process of looking closer\, I find something exceptional\, and I enjoy sharing what I have found with others. I encourage others to take a second look at what is around you. Many times\, we notice something as we move through our lives\, but do not take the time to look closer. When we look closer\, we can enjoy the moment and learn to see details\, color\, or invoke feelings from just looking. Sally regularly exhibits with Norristown Art League\, and Bucks County Arts Council and other local shows. She has received awards for her art and photography. Sally has presented a photography workshop entitled “A Second Look” discussing her approach to photo selection and how she uses her photos as a reference for painting.
