Virtual Vivace Violin & Viola Camp

Student Ages 8-18

Vivace Violins & Viola Camp will be an on-line learning experience this year! Camp will include live sessions on the ZOOM platform and pre-recorded content. This is a program for beginners to advancing violin and viola students. The program helps students discover and develop musical artistry. Suzuki and traditional students are welcome.

Vivace Faculty

  • CMS Violin & Viola Faculty


  • Computer or smartphone with internet connection (required)
  • Camera connected to computer, or camera built into computer, to stream video (required)
  • Headphones (required)
  • External microphone that connects to computer (optional). If you need recommendations, please ask us!

Virtual Camp Activities Include Live and Pre-recorded content:

  • Individual lessons – participants will receive 1 or 2 individual lessons during the course of the week.
  • Special Topics Classes:
    • Beginner to Intermediate Violinist & Violist:
      • The Key to the 24 Keys: Finger Patterns and First Position Scales
      • Bring Out Your Best Sound: Tone Production and Exploring the Bow Stroke
      • Repertoire Enrichment Class: Bach to Dancing. Focus will be on J.S. Bach’s Minuets 1, 2 and 3 from Suzuki Vol. 1
    • Advancing Violinists & Violists:
      • Advanced Scale Class – Exploring various practice approaches for the Carl Flesch Scale System
      • Repertoire Group Class
      • Sevick Studies Workshop
      • Fingerboard Geography Workshop – focusing on position work and shifting
  • Listening parties – listening and learning together from pre-recorded performances and Masterclasses from great musicians with guided discussion from faculty
  • Daily social hour over lunch – students can log in for games, discussion and general laid-back social time with their peers
  • Virtual Camp Concert – schedule for the final day of camp. Family and friends can tune in to watch.
