CMS Piano Festival
The 12th Annual Community Music School Piano Festival will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the school. We are offering two categories: solo and collaborative piano. This will be another performance opportunity for your child and a goal for the winter season – great for practice motivation!
For solo piano category, each student will play two memorized pieces of music for an adjudicator and will receive a trophy or ribbon (depending on the rating given by the adjudicator) as well as written comments on his or her performance. Important: Students who perform their solo pieces for the festival adjudicator WITH music will not be eligible for the honors recital.
Collaborative piano category includes piano duets, piano six-hands. Each group will play one piece or a movement of a piece for an adjudicator and will receive written comments on their performance. Each student will receive a trophy or ribbon (depending on the rating given by the adjudicator). Memorization is not required in this category.
Students who receive the highest rating at the adjudication may be asked to perform on a special honors recital on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 7pm. This is optional – it is not mandatory for those students asked to perform to do so – only if they wish. Each member of collaborative piano groups will need to agree to perform on the recital to be considered. Please check below if your child would like to perform on the honors recital if selected. You will be notified by your teacher if your child has been selected to perform.
The cost will be $12.00 per student per category. Checks should be made out to Community Music School. Only one form is needed for each collaborative piano group. If your child is participating in two categories, you will need to submit two separate forms. Please return this form with the appropriate fees to the Front Desk no later than 2:00PM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 – no exceptions. Please contact CMS at 610-489-3676 with any questions.
