Honors Certificate Program
The Honors Certificate Program is designed to develop the highly motivated intermediate to advanced level student with a curriculum that emphasizes performance. Building on the Music Certificate Program, the Honors Certificate Program requires ensemble participation that will further enhance the learning experience and prepare students for possible entrance to music schools or conservatories. Students in the Honors Certificate Program are required to take a minimum 45-minute lesson each week, participate year-round in an ensemble, and successfully complete a theory course. Honors Certificate students must also take a performance evaluation before a committee of CMS faculty at the end of the year. Because listening to others perform is a vital component to a well-rounded music education, Honors Certificate students are expected to attend at least two professional concert performances per year – either at CMS or elsewhere. In addition to meeting all ensemble performance requirements, students in the Honors Certificate Program must solo in at least two student recitals per year. Graduating high school seniors are further required to present a 30-minute solo recital. Please contact the Registrar for current pricing (610) 489-3676
