For Ages Newborn-18 MonthsVillage encourages all your baby's senses and rewards his curiosity with object and instrument exploration, vocal play, singing, creative movement and a colorful literature component. Village opens new windows-to show your baby more about the world and to show you more about your baby. This unique musical environment creates an optimal learning setting for up to ten children and their parents in each 45-minute class. The class meets for 16 weeks.

For Ages 18 Months - 3 YearsRecognizing a child's need for both the freedom to try new experiences and the assurance of your support, Our Time encourages your child's discovery with you at the center of his or her adventure. Up to ten children, each accompanied by a parent or caregiver, meet weekly for 45 minutes to play instruments, learn finger plays, listen to the sounds of the world around them, move to music, sing alone, and enjoy Music and Movement Story Time. Class meets for 15 weeks.

For Ages 3-5 YearsEncouraging the storyteller in your child, Imagine That continues his or her creative, musical development while building on their preschool learning. Fun musical exploration helps accustom children to being in class without a parent or caregiver present for the entire time. Up to ten children meet weekly for 45 minutes to sing, move, listen, create and play instruments during this multi-faceted stage of growth. Parents and siblings are invited to share in the last 10 to 15 minutes of class. Class meets for 15 weeks.
Spring 2012 Curriculum: Toys I Make, Trips I Take:

For Ages 5-7 YearsEach week for 60 minutes, up to ten students explore many facets of music-speaking and singing, moving, listening, creating and playing instruments, and learning about reading and writing music. During each class, creative movement or dances are interspersed with quiet activities like drawing or focused listening. The curriculum introduces the glockenspiel, a pre-keyboard instrument, as well as string and woodwind instruments like the dulcimer and recorder. Parents are invited to share in the last few minutes of class. There are four 15-week sessions of the Young Child curriculum that can be taken over a two year period. The capstone of Kindermusik, Young Child is the perfect pressure-free preparation for private instruction.

Miss RachelRachel Blosser Derstine is a trained, certified Kindermusik instructor who has been teaching Kindermusik since 1989. She received her BA in Piano Performance from Eastern Mennonite University and her MM in Piano Performance from Ohio University. She was a piano instructor at Western Baptist College in Salem, Oregon and has also maintained her own private piano studio since 1978. Her interest in early childhood music education has led to her teaching music in area Montessori schools and preschools. She has taught piano and Kindermusik at the Community Music School since it began in 1991. Rachel lives with her husband, Rod, in Schwenksville.
Miss JenniferJennifer Brennan graduated with a BS in Music Therapy from Elizabethtown College. While there, she studied euphonium with Grant Moore, a founding member of The Philadelphia Brass, and guitar with Grammy award winner David Cullen. Upon graduating, Jennifer worked as a Music Therapist throughout Philadelphia with a variety of populations and age groups. During this time her love of working with children solidified, and she eventually concentrated on becoming a masterful Kindermusik educator. Before joining CMS, she spent over 9 years teaching at a Maestro Kindermusik program in Doylestown PA. Jennifer also works at local preschools, creating and teaching music and movement programs. She lives in Limerick with her husband, two sons and their various pets.
A $15 registration fee and class tuition is due at time of enrollment. Students may withdrawl from class up to the third week of the semester and receive a refund for the tuition minus the cost of materials and a $25 withdrawl fee.
