Community Music School welcomes resumes and letters of interest from qualified teachers seeking employment for teaching hours during afternoon, evening and Saturdays. CMS employs fully credentialed and experienced teachers. Successful candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in applied music, pedagogy or music education from an accredited institution with a major in the instrument they seek to teach. CMS generally gives preference to candidates with advanced degrees and specific studio teaching experience. CMS requires all Faculty and Staff to obtain the following clearances:

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance;
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check; and
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check.

Executive Director

Job Summary

The Executive Director is a dynamic leader overseeing operations and providing artistic direction that attracts, retains and motivates the highest quality faculty and staff.  The ED manages the School’s budget and finances, fundraising, human resources, strategic planning and facility.  This position reports to the Board of Directors.


  • Provide effective leadership and management of the School’s budgets and finances, fundraising, public relations and human resources
  • Implement and execute the strategic plan
  • Fiscal and administrative oversight to enable growth and sustainability
  • Increase earned income streams and maximize facility utilization
  • Build enrollment
  • Direct and evaluate the school’s curricula and programs
  • Foster and expand donor relationships and campaigns
  • Expand community engagement and programming
  • Build partnerships and collaborations that advance the mission of the School
  • Manage facility and grounds
  • Oversee grant applications and administration


  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Work effectively and harmoniously in a culturally and ethnically diverse environment
  • Provide leadership, direction, and positive motivation; foster collaboration


  • Experience:  Minimum 2 years in non-profit, education or small business management; fundraising and donor development preferred
  • Business management:  MS Office suite; StudioSchool Pro a plus
  • People management:  Experience in managing and motivating teams
  • Physical demands and other conditions: Some evening and weekend work. Ability to attend meetings and events on-and off-site. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for event setup.

Education Level: 

Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, fine arts, music education or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred

Bassoon – Looking for experienced teaching artist, comfortable teaching beginner through advanced students, school-age through adults. Must be available for lessons on one to two weekdays 3-9pm and/or Saturdays 9am-3pm.
